Salmon and trout fishing & guiding on the River Exe

PAA coach Graeme Lowndes is currently taking bookings for salmon fishing tuition and guiding on the river Exe on the Devon/Somerset Border. This includes spey casting and the techniques with the new switch casting rods.

Following the wet spring and very wet early summer, the Exe is fishing well – most beats are having their best catches for some years. Some large salmon have been landed.

Grilse are running the river in increasing numbers and good catches can be expected.

Other news from Graeme

Last month a 12 year old girl from Winchester, Annabella Woodman on one of my tuition days on the river test at Compton, caught a 8lb Brown trout on size 14 barbless hook Deer hair sedge fly.

Next up are two shots of middle and upper Exe beats on the Exe Carnarvon water which Graeme has access to. Junction Pool has been fishing extremely well. In one session recently beat owner Tim landed two salmon and lost one all on fly, the best fish 12lb.
